The online retailer led a $700 million investment round in Rivian earlier this year. Founded in 2009, Rivian plans to release an electric SUV, the R1S, and an electric pickup truck, the R1T, late next year. The vehicles will start around $60,000-$65,000, and each will have a range that could top 400 miles and the ability to accelerate from 0-60 mph in three seconds, Rivian says.

Rivian has also received a $500 million investment from Ford, which will use Rivian's platform in a new electric vehicle.
