Amazon is about to release its earnings. Here’s how CEO Jeff Bezos makes and spends his billions.

Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of e-commerce giant Amazon, is the wealthiest person alive — and the first person in modern history to accumulate a fortune of over $100 billion.

His company is set to release its earnings for Q3 2019 after markets close Thursday. Since most of Bezos' wealth is in the form of his ownership stake in Amazon, the company's success and his personal fortune are closely intertwined.

Bezos' net worth took a hit in July when he finalized his divorce from ex-wife MacKenzie Bezos, Business Insider previously reported. According to a statement from MacKenzie Bezos, Jeff Bezos retained 75% of the Amazon shares held by the couple, as well as their joint holdings in the Washington Post and space exploration venture Blue Origin after their split. Bezos' net worth fell $36 billion and MacKenzie became one of the richest women in the world, according to Bloomberg.

From real estate to space travel, here's how Bezos spends his money.
