Supermassive Games Announces The Dark Pictures: Little Hope For This Summer

Publisher Bandai Namco and developer Supermassive Games have announced the second story in The Dark Pictures Anthology, The Dark Pictures: Little Hope will be released on multiple platforms this summer.

Each story in the anthology is stand-alone stories, and the other games don’t have to be played to understand the series.

“In Little Hope, abandoned and all alone, four college students and their professor are trapped by a mysterious fog in the isolated eponym town. They search desperately for a means of escape whilst visions from the town’s occult-steeped past haunt them from the shadows. In order to stay alive, they must uncover the mysteries behind these relentlessly-pursuing dark apparitions before evil forces drag each of their souls to hell!” states the press release.

There are five protagonists to choose from in the title. One of the characters is represented by Will Pouter, an actor known for his roles in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Maze Runner: The Death Cure, and Midsommar. Pouter provided motion capture for the role of Andrew.

Similar to the previous game, The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan, players can play through the story multiple times with each protagonist to explore the various storylines, paths, and endings. All paths and decisions lead to who will survive to the end.

Pip Torrens, who voices The Curator, will reprise his role for Little Hope. The Curator narrates the player’s decision and even provides an occasional hint to progress through the game.

Multiple game modes, such as Shared Story and Movie Night, which allows players to share their stories on or offline, will return. The Theatrical Cut and the Curator’s Cut will also be made available as a preorder bonus.

The Dark Pictures Anthology is a series of cinematic horror-games. The games are not connected, and each has a unique cast of characters, story, and setting.

The first game, Man of Medan, starred five friends on a diving trip who discover a horrifying ghost ship. Players can choose one of the friends to control, but their decisions will decide who survives and who dies.

The Dark Pictures: Little Hope was teased in August 2019, but now has a release window.

The Dark Pictures: Little Hope will launch on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One this Summer.
