Sometimes, one apology just doesn’t cut it. After many people are still declaring her cancelled, rapper Trina has taken to social media to release a written mea culpa.
Trina already said sorry for her inflammatory comments on the Trick and Trina Morning Show on 99 Jamz after she compared the looters to animals for tearing down the city and robbing her friends’ store.
She wanted to make it clear that she, as a black woman, would never compare other black people to animals. She also revealed that after speaking to multiple people, she has become better educated about the topic.
‘When we spoke to the commissioner, I said to Trick [Daddy], ‘I learned a lot more about what’s really happening,’ because I’m trying to get what’s the solution, what is the answer to everything that is happening? It’s more than just people in the streets doing whatever, it’s the commissioners, it’s the governor, it’s the mayor, the chief of police, I had no idea of that and now I’m understanding that. These are the people that has to protect the cities. These are the people that you want answers from, you want change.’
The Love and Hip Hop star’s apology on-air was not enough for social media commentators who didn’t want to accept it.
So, Trina took to her Instagram page to release a more extensive apology.
‘From the bottom of my heart, I sincerely apologize for any grief I have caused. I live my life on the values of respect and regard for all people, and I will continue to do so. None of us are perfect, but thank God we have the ability to reflect, dissect and begin anew.’
She went on to say: ‘I take full responsibility for my actions, and for any confusion that I might have caused regarding my feelings on what we’re all dealing with right now. When I said what I said, I was acutely upset with those who are using the peaceful demonstrations as a vehicle for their own intentions. There is never an excuse for evil in these trying times.’
Do you think Trina is being genuine?
